Cane weaving is the process by which unspun vegetable fibres are woven into baskets. The earliest evidence of woven baskets dates back to 12,000 years ago. Not only are they ideal for home use, but they can also be used in shop displays, or as a picnic tray.
In India cane basket weaving is concentrated in the Northeast states of Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur and Assam.
